| A native Mississippian, Allison has lived in Memphis, TN with her husband, Haden and their dog, Ed since 2004. She earned a BFA in Visual Communications from the University of Mississippi and studied painting and figure drawing in Cortona, Italy. Allison's creative inspirations are based on music, comical fascinations, unusual people (fiction and non-fiction), artists such as Roy Lichenstein, Ezra Jack Keats, the Clayton Brothers and Frida Kahlo. Rare finds like antique playing cards, hand made textured paper and vintage magazine ads accentuate her work. Found objects such as old camper doors, aluminum siding and plywood often serve as her canvas and lend a rough, folk-art quality to her work. |
